I have been getting this question alot “kalab why did you decide to move from Wix to WordPress?” I decided to create a blog post about this topic.
I was a customer of Wix for many years, i recently was considering leaving the Wix platform due to many reasons, some reasons on why i wanted to leave Wix is:
- Website builder experience
- Backend layout
Features such as the “drag and drop” system worked for me for a while but then eventually it didn’t really work out to me, and the “block contents” of WordPress really works for me,
Cost is also another factor, the cost with Wix is quite expensive with WordPress being cheaper, for myself, this was in the right direction, The backend layout of Wix was okay, but could of been better.
Limitations, with Wix, there is many limitations with it being a “drag and drop” interface, WordPress however, has many options that better suit myself and the way we work. Also another advantage, is that your content is more structured
With structure also comes limitations, with WordPress’ “Block Content” is that you cannot drag items wherever you want, for some people this is an issue while for others it is not.
A few things that i’ll miss from Wix include:
- Wix phone support
- Wix stores, wix inbox (even though there is other options)
I like the layout of WordPress, the customer support team is amazing. At times Wix gave me headaches (no joke)
But always with the pro’s there’s also the con’s here is some com’s regarding WordPress:
- No phone support
- Must upgrade in order to instal plugins
- Sometimes errors in publishing site
This blog post does not end here, there will be many updates to come to this post!!
