1 Understand that not everyone has your same beliefs or views.
Be open to others’ thoughts and opinions. Recognize that many people can be right. What seems like a rude comment at first glance might only be someone expressing a different opinion.
2 – Save the evidence and report the abuse to the appropriate people
It can be important to keep a record – such as social media posts, emails and texts. This evidence should then be shown to a trusted confidante Many social media sites for example have inbuilt tools for reporting abusive behaviour. You should save all evidence and report it to the appropriate people.
3 – Block the bully
Blocking or removing the bully from your friends or contacts lists on social media means that they won’t be able to send posts directly to you.
4 – Get away from the Device
Just go outside! Get Away from all the drama for a bit. Or you can enjoy a nice meal, meditating, or taking a warm bath.
5 – Talk to someone you trust about the issue
If you have any concerns about the problem, talk to a counsellor, a parent, teacher, family friend, close friend about the problem. This person can comfort you and maybe even help you.
6 – Don’t retaliate and write a nasty post in response.
It will only make the situation worse. Take note of the “30 second rule” After you’ve written something but before you post it, step away from the computer or phone for 30 seconds. When you come back, look at the message you wrote and ask yourself how you’d feel if someone wrote this to you.
